Adopt an AED (Automated External Defibrillators) focuses on increasing access to early defibrillation (you may consider -life saving intervention-) in case of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in a public place.
Our vision: To have a maintained AED within running distance of a cardiac arrest, alongside someone who is trained to use it.
Our mission is to increase the AED footprint, creating better partnerships between people and the emergency services in order to reduce the response times and increase the chance of survival; Post-Cardiac-Arrest.
Together, we aim to make all major cities in Scotland have a 6-minute cardiac arrest zone by working in partnership with other organisations and extending a sustainable network of community first responders and AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) across the entire country. By lowering response times, the survival rate could be increased by as much 65% showing that we could save as many as 39,000 people annually, every single year!
